'Generally fantastic’: Man United fans name unsung hero in Mainoo's winner vs Man City

Man United won their 13th FA Cup title with a thrilling 2-1 win over Man City at Wembley on Saturday (March 25).

The Red Devils were excellent in the first half and took a 2-0 lead. Alejandro Garnacho scored a smart goal before Kobbie Mainoo finished off a brilliant team move.

However, some fans have noticed the important role played by Aaron Wan-Bissaka leading up to the goal. The Englishman didn’t assist it, but still worked smartly to destabilize Man City’s defensive shape.

Just as Alejandro Garnacho received the ball on the right wing, Wan-Bissaka started making a run towards the byline to drag Nathan Ake out of position.

This allowed the Argentine winger to play it to Bruno Fernandes, who played a beautiful pass for Mainoo to double Man United’s lead.

Wan-Bissaka is earning a lot of praise for his impressive work as fans reacted on Reddit.

Ikevictxr: “AWB Consistently makes forward runs the amount of distance he covers in a game must be insane.”

Alpha2669: “AWB was generally fantastic in the whole game. Call me crazy but I think England would benefit a lot against strong opposition like France by playing him as a RB locking down the opposition winger.”

Daddywookie: “Nice spot. AWB has had an up and down season but I think he played a fantastic match here. He only really struggled towards the end against Doku when he must have been totally cooked. The run you picked out is a great example of doing the work required, no matter how thankless.”

JamesFrancoUnited: “I’m of the opinion that AWB is one of the most underrated players in the team. If only his crossing was better.”
