Man United add Roberto de Zerbi to manager wishlist - he's impressed Sir Jim with two things

According to The Guardian, Man United have ‘sounded out’ Roberto de Zerbi about the possibility of being Erik ten Hag’s successor.

The Italian manager has been approached by the Red Devils’ officials about the possibility of taking up the job if the Dutchman is sacked. De Zerbi left his role at Brighton at the end of the season.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is an admirer of the attractive possession-based style of play De Zerbi encourages. He was also impressed with how the Italian gaffer was able to help the Seagulls qualify for European Football last season.

The Italian manager was in charge of Brighton for two years from 2022-2024. He managed 89 matches and ended the stint with a 42.70% win rate.

For now, De Zerbi is part of a shortlist of managerial options. This includes Thomas Tuchel, Kieran McKenna, Thomas Frank, and Mauricio Pochettino.

Man United are going to make the final decision on Ten Hag at an end-of-the-season review meeting. The club’s officials have still not finalized the possibility of sacking him after winning the FA Cup title.
