'Messi, Neymar, Di Maria know each other well': Pochettino admits Mbappe is odd one out in PSG's attack

"We have to build understanding over time, not just in competition but also in training. We played 4-2-3-1 against Lyon, which is different to what we had done before, that's why I'm happy with the team's performance," Mauricio Pochettino has said ahead of the match against Metz.

"We have to create links, complicity, but I'm happy with what we saw during the game. We had possession and moved it well, which enabled us to create chances.

"Leo Messi, Neymar and Angel Di Maria know each other well, they already have a connection. We now have to integrate Kylian Mbappe and that will take a little time."

Messi played together with Neymar at Barcelona and with Di Maria at the national team, so it's no surprise that they already have a connection. With Kylian, however, they are yet to establish one, it appears.

Playing at centre-forward, Mbappe did look rather bleak against Lyon, as he missed several chances. However, he managed to redeem himself towards the end as he recorded the assist to Mauro Icardi's game-winning goal.
