Fede Valverde celebrates his first game for Madrid: 'I'm happy with debut, bur winning was more important'
When Fede Valverde entered the pitch in the 54th minute of the game against Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League, replacing Isco no less, a few eyebrows were raised. An inexperienced youngster making his debut in the situation of huge pressure with Bernabeu atmosphere being almost hostile after Real Madrid had gone six games without a win...
But all worries were forgotten as Fede showed that he meant business and didn't shy away from the ball or tackles. In fact, both madridistas and experts were equally impressed by the youngster:
After the game Fede Valverde discussed his debut and the general course of the game:
"I'm happy at having made my debut. We got the win, which was important, and coming on and being involved in the goal is a bonus."We've beaten a side that also like to play and have their strengths, that's why there are times when things don't work out perfectly. The gaffer asked me to help the team out in defence and be another body in attack.
"Sometimes you can't win games 4-0, but the important thing is that we got the three points ahead of what's the most special game of all. Next Sunday we have a very tough game, it's a Clasico that everyone wants to be involved in and we have to win it."
The young midfielder certainly anticipates what could be his first Clasico:
“The coach helps and advises us, and we support his decisions. We are united and if we don’t get a result it's partly down to our oppositions’ quality. Hopefully, Marcelo's injury isn't anything serious because we need him."
Valverde also went on Twitter to write about his debut:
"One of the happiest days of my life. Honored to have debuted for Real Madrid and very happy with the win," his tweet is saying.
