The Racing Club president, Victor Blanco, has told Mundo Deportivo about Real Madrid's offer for their young revelation Lautaro Martinez back in 2015.
"They came looking for him from Real Madrid and offered a loan with a significant purchase option," Blanco revealed.
Lautaro was too committed to his boyhood club, however.
"He rejected that possibility because he wanted to succeed in Racing before going outside. And he stayed. It did not cloud. He was very clear about his goals."
Five years later, the Argentine striker is a transfer target for top European sides, with Real Madrid reportedly keeping tabs on the player.
The 22-year-old has had an impressive campaign with Inter Milan, scoring 16 goals in 31 appearances.
Lautaro's release clause reportedly stands at €111m. Inter, however, have supposedly lowered the asking price to €80m.
