Speaking after guiding Real Madrid Juvenil A to their first-ever UEFA Youth League victory after defeating Benfica U19 3-2 in the final, Raul said (as quoted by Marca): “Look, I have experienced beautiful things at this club, but this.. it is comparable to other great moments that I have lived as a player.
“It is beautiful. We must congratulate [the players]. It is an important step for their careers and an award for all the people who have worked in the academy, for the players and coaches.
“Congratulations to all Madridistas because this belongs to everyone.”
Raul has clearly done an outstanding job with our academy stars and proven himself as a promising manager by helping the Madrid U19 side to the big European title. With this brilliant achievement, the Spaniard must've raised his reputation in front of Florentino Perez – who must now view him as a potential successor to Zinedine Zidane in the future.
