- Karim Benzema’s camp have suggested that the footage showing him chatting with Ferland Mendy in the dugout and talking about not linking-up with Vinicius Jr is fake.
- They told AS: “Karim has been very good with Vinicius these 2 years, helping him to grow as a player and as a person within the club. It is not normal you fall for a recording whose sounds are mixed and confused. Also the voice of not passing the ball is not Karim's.”
- But cameras installed in the dugout clearly showed Benzema speaking with Mendy in French and complaining about Vinicius’ style.
- The Frenchman posted a cryptic message in reply to those questioning his antics on Tuesday and it seems he’s convinced of having done nothing wrong.
