Agent explains why 'Mbappe of left-backs' Mendy chose Madrid over Juventus

"We spoke to Juventus, but they already had Alex Sandro," agent Yvan Lee Mee told Tuttosport about his client Ferland Mendy, as quoted by Goal.

"The truth is, Real Madrid wanted him more than anyone else. Two years ago, I said Ferland would become the Mbappe of left-backs and I was proved right.

"Playing along with the champions at Real Madrid can make you improve, and right now, I can’t think of a more complete left-back."

The Kylian Mbappe comparison is perhaps a bit too much even considering Ferland's recent goalscoring record. Mendy put the ball into the net 2 times in the last 4 games.

Mendy joined Madrid in 2019 on a €48m transfer from Lyon and has become our first-choice left-back, benching Marcelo.
