'I'm not worried': Modric's former manager addresses Luka burnout fears

"I’m not worried," Croatian manager Branko Ivankovic told Managing Madrid when asked whether Luka Modric is playing too many games this season, considering his age.

"He takes care of his body. He respects training. He also rests at home and he has a fantastic family who he’ll spend a lot of time with. His family refreshes him and keeps him at the highest level.

"Okay, he can have some games where he looks a little bit tired, but generally I don’t worry about him because he prepares himself. If he’s in a good mood, he’ll be in good condition. I don’t worry about his power at his age."

Real Madrid have had 38 games so far this season, and Modric played in 36 of them, missing the La Liga clash against Granada and the Alcoyano match in the Spanish Cup.

Of these 36 games, Luka started in 31. For a player aged 35, the Croatian shows extremely good fitness.

The midfielder has recently earned his 135th cap for this national team, becoming Croatia's record appearance holder.
