Thanks to his goal against Sheriff Tiraspol, Karim Benzema became the first-ever player to score in 17 Champions League campaigns in a row, Opta report.
His first goal in the competition came way back in the 2005/06 season when he was still at Lyon.
The Frenchman's achievement was equalled by Lionel Messi the same night as he scored past Manchester City. However, it was the Real Madrid striker who got to it first.
What's more, the goal against the team from Moldova became his 72nd in the competition. Overtaking Real Madrid icon Raul, Benzema has become the fourth-best goalscorer in the Champions League.
This term so far, Karim has recorded nine goals and seven assists in nine matches for the Whites.
