True leadership: Benzema explains giving penalty away to Mbappe in France latest match

During the Nations League semi-final against Belgium, Karim Benzema let Kylian Mbappe take the penalty for France despite being a bigger authority on the team. Here's how he explained it.

"We are players who all take penalties, I wanted him to take it, I wanted him to score. After what happened at the Euros, it is erased. On the pitch I try to help and make my teammates better, every time," the Real Madrid striker said, as quoted by ESPN FC.

What Benzema is referencing is probably Mbappe's missed penalty against Switzerland which got France eliminated from the Euros round of 16. The young Frenchman had a rather strong reaction to his miss.
