Ramos sends heartwarming message as Modric captains Madrid for first time

On the following day, president Florentino Perez presented the Croat with a commemorative shirt. The midfielder also commented on what the milestone meant for him.

"It is something incredible, a great pride to play 400 games for Real Madrid. It is enormous happiness and tremendous pride," Modric told the club's media.

"I hope I keep playing more games and see how many I get. Everything that has happened to me at Real Madrid since I arrived is something impressive. I never imagined that I would get everything I have achieved so far. More than 9 years of dreams and happiness.

"It’s something inexplicable. I have enjoyed since the moment I arrived and I have fulfilled my dream of playing for Real Madrid. Everything that has come after has been something impressive and I never imagined. I am happy and grateful."

In his 400 matches for the Whites, the 36-year-old recorded 28 goals and 63 assists. He's won 16 trophies at the club.

Modric responds to criticism of his partnership with Kroos and Casemiro

During the press conference ahead of the match against 

 was asked what were his thoughts on the criticism the 

"We have to accept it and get used to it. When we win everything is fine but when we lose a game it all seems a disaster. It's always like this," the Croat responded.

"When you play for Madrid, criticism is normal. We trust in our qualities and we have to be calm, improve and continue to show who we are.

? I don't like to compare. They have done a lot for Barcelona and Spain but so we have for Real Madrid. I let others say who's better."

The trio of Modric, Kroos and Casemiro haven't played that much together this season so far as the first two had been dealing with injuries at the start of the season.

As for Luka personally, he's played seven matches for Real Madrid this term, recording an assist.
