Vinicius Jr set to obtain Spanish citizenship: how it will help Real Madrid

Vinicius Junior is close to acquiring Spanish citizenship, according to Diario AS.

Starting from the 2022/23 season, the Brazilian won't be occupying a non-EU [not a member of the European Union] spot.

There are only 3 non-EU spots available – they are currently occupied by Vini, Rodrygo and Eder Militao.

So, when Vinicius obtains Spanish citizenship, Real Madrid will have a free non-EU slot; they could use it to register Takefusa Kubo or a new player from outside the European Union.
