Carvajal: 'No way Madrid could have slacked off after going 2-0 up'

"This place is cold but a result like this makes the whole experience much more agreeable," Dani Carvajal told UEFA.com after the Sheriff game.

"We have qualified now and that means objective achieved. We went through a spell where we weren't keeping clean sheets. But now we are managing it and our aim is to keep that going.

"Casemiro, Kroos and Modrić are the absolute best in the world - our coach already said that pre-match. And they proved it by imposing their tempo.

"No way could we have slacked off once we went a couple ahead; then the Inter match could have become much more complicated."

Madrid ended the first half with a two-goal advantage. Karim Benzema sealed a victory, scoring Madrid's third goal ten minutes after the interval.

The victory sees the Whites qualify for the Round of 16. However, they must draw or beat Inter in December to finish first in the group.
