5 players trending among Madrid fans this week
🇪🇸 Isco
The Spaniard was brought on in the 77th minute of the Alcoyano game only to score a bizarre goal with his first touch.
Isco tried to dribble past the Alcoyano goalie Jose Juan, who barged into him. Both fell on the floor, watching the ball gently roll into the net.
The goal was hilarious but it's not the main reason why Madrid fans have been talking about the 29-year-old.
Isco has put in good performances whenever he was given chances so far this season. He has scored two goals despite spending less than 200 minutes on the pitch.
However, Ancelotti doesn't seem to trust the versatile Spaniard. Carletto's reluctance to play Isco could be down to a conflict between the player and the manager that was reported back in November.
🇺🇾 Valverde
Almost unanimously loved by the Madrid fanbase, the Uruguayan's performance against Alcoyano has been a subject on some heated debates.
Everyone agrees that he put in a poor display, but different people draw different consequences from it.
Some fans have used it to prove that Fede's progress has stalled and he won't reach the level needed to be a starter at Madrid.
Others point to Valverde's fantastic performances in big games, saying the 23-year-old will develop into a world-class midfielder.
🐢 Mbappe
Madrid fans never get tired of discussing Mbappe. The Frenchman has entered the final six months of his PSG contract this week. It means Madrid are legally allowed to enter negotiations for a pre-contract agreement with the forward.
So some fans are waiting for a 'comunicado oficial', an official statement from Real Madrid confirming they have signed Mbappe.
But it's unlikely to happen this month though, with Flo Perez reportedly delaying the transfer until March out of respect for PSG. It is claimed that Kylian will announce his exit from the French side after the Champions League last 16 tie against Madrid.
🇧🇷 Militao
Remember everyone being anxious about losing Ramos and Varane in the same transfer window? Well, Militao and Alaba have made sure that Madrid fans don't miss the iconic Sergio–Rapha pairing.
Eder has featured a lot in the headlines since the beginning of the new year. First, his mistake against Getafe led to Madrid recording their second La Liga loss this season (and Sevilla getting dangerously close).
But then the Brazilian put in a Man Of The Match performance against Alcoyano, showing that his Getafe error was just a bump on the road.
🇪🇸 Ceballos
Dani is back from a serious injury and he has finally played his first minutes for Madrid this season.
He was introduced in the 86th minute of the Alcoyano clash, and vented frustration at Ancelotti for bringing him on so late in the game. The midfielder wanted to play more minutes.
Madrid fans are divided over the incident. Some claim that Ceballos' behaviour is unprofessional, others compliment Dani for passion and desire to play.
