Perhaps overshadowed by the celebrations that followed, the 4-0 victory against Espanyol was a really good performance by Madrid.
Carlo Ancelotti gave a chance to several players who have barely played this season, and they didn't disappoint.
Man of the Match
Dani Ceballos: 9/10. Dani dominated the midfield, every decision he made was right. He made crucial tackles and played brilliant passes, contributing both offensively and defensively. Ceballos showed he's Madrid quality and deserves more minutes.
Good
Rodrygo: 9. Quiet spell in the opening half-hour, then quickly burst into action to break the deadlock for Madrid. Scored a second shortly after that. He's a fantastic finisher when used at the left-hand side.
Eduardo Camavinga: 8. The young Frenchman was Madrid's midfield engine. Made a brilliant run to set up Asensio for Madrid's third. Was asked to drop to centre-back after the hour mark Casemiro was taken off and did well in an unfamiliar position.
Luka Modric: 7.5. Received a standing ovation when he came off. Another solid display by the veteran Croatian, who linked up midfield and attack efficiently and in style.
Marcelo: 7.5. Excellent control and touch to make the disguised pass to Rodrygo for Madrid's opener.
Marco Asensio: 7. Wasn't particularly involved today but scored Madrid's third with a brilliant finish. Did well defensively, making some good tackles.
Jesus Vallejo: 6.5. There were concerns the defender would struggle, having played just 14 minutes of first-team football before the Espanyol game. But he worked really hard today and had a solid game defensively.
Poor
Mariano: 4. Very rusty, even if understandably so. Wasted two huge chances in the first half. Deserves some credit for pressing Herrera that led to Rodrygo's second goal though.
