Kylian Mbappe has decided to reject the offer from Real Madrid and accept an extension at Paris Saint-Germain.
Discussing this decision, Sports.ru user King_X argued that the Frenchman, and not Real Madrid, is the biggest loser in this saga.
"Mbappe is an absolute top (and just 23 years old). Real Madrid really wanted him, and it's incredibly sad that he stayed after all this flirting. The Barca fanboys are gloating, but I can understand them, it turned out silly (even sillier than the De Gea fax).
"But, in my humble opinion, Mbappe is the biggest loser in this saga. The family is pleased - he's getting a lot of money; the sheikh is pleased - he won't get embarrassed by Real Madrid (it would have been double as funny after the CL elimination). Real Madrid, fine, will find where to spend the money / how to continue the growth.
"But what will Mbappe himself do after the extra zeroes in his back account? (Money, after all, is useful to a certain extent) Can he really be as motivated playing for the 20th+ time against Metz, Dijon and others? Or, for example, will he have the enthusiasm to play the walkover Ligue 1 matches after he gets eliminated from the CL, or to slave away in the CL group stage matches until he makes it to the play-offs and things get really interesting?
"Okay, what if he decides to leave for Premier League in a year or two? Where is the guarantee that Al-Khelaifi won't, out of principle, tell him to screw off until 2025 and make him play. Because he doesn't give a damn about the money and the offers from another club. (If there are not a special clause in the contract, of course)
"All in all, after a year of determination to join Madrid, he will regret this two-day's weakness (towards money, his mother, the sheikh, Macron and others) for years to come."
Mbappe has signed a new contract until 2025. It's been reported that Madrid have told him that they will never again be interested in signing him after his u-turn.
