Man City wins 'Club of the Year' award at Ballon d'Or gala – literally no one understands why
France Football have announced that Manchester City have won the 'Club of the Year' award at the Ballon d'Or gala. Liverpool came second and Real Madrid, surprisingly, only third.
Madrid fans — and supporters of literally any other team in the world except City — can't wrap their hands around the latter winning the accolade.
A perfectly logical question arises: how come that the club that won La Liga and Champions League, beating both Liverpool and City on their way to the title, finished below them?
Apparently, the clubs with the most Ballon d'Or nominees were taken into account. Man City have 6, so do Liverpool, and so do us (if Rudiger and Casemiro included).
Well, let them settle for being the best club on paper while we continue to lift the trophies.
