Valverde, Tchouameni and 3 more: rating Real Madrid's best players before World Cup break

The 2022/23 season is divided into two parts, before and after the World Cup. The first part is already over, and we have the opportunity to look back and assess the Real Madrid players that performed the best during this period.

Fede Valverde - 9

More of a winger than a midfielder this season so far, Fede Valverde has been absolutely incredible in everything he's done.

The Uruguayan has scored 8 goals, including a few bangers, and provided 4 assists, but his contribution did not end there. You can always count on Valverde to track back and fight for every ball no matter where on the pitch he plays.

Toni Kroos - 8.5

Toni Kroos has been perhaps Real Madrid's most consistent performer this season. Carlo Ancelotti can always count on proper ball distribution and movement if the German is on the pitch.

His importance was highlighted by the loss to Rayo Vallecano when, in Toni's absence, the Blancos lost control of the midfield. Kroos returned the next game against Cadiz and single-handedly won us the three points thanks to a pinpoint cross and superb volley from outside the penalty box.

Vinicius Junior - 8.5

With Karim Benzema often out due to injuries, it was Vinicius Junior who assumed the role of Madrid's main goalscorer. The Brazilian has recorded 10 goals in 21 matches - add to that 5 assists and you can confidently call him the main man in our attack.

However, Vini also had some off matches as well. His finishing and decision-making are still not perfect. And although he has every right to get angry at the rival defenders, the team would benefit if he managed his temper a bit better.

Aurelien Tchouameni - 8

Aurelien Tchouameni has made Casemiro's departure unnoticeable. The Frenchman is close to Casemiro's level defensively and perhaps even better in possession. The goals shall come too.

Tchouameni was a bit underwhelming in the last few matches, but that might be due to the minor injury he suffered at the end of October.

Rodrygo - 7.5

Rodrygo has been Ancelotti's little experiment this season, as the coach used the Brazilian at centre-forward whenever Benzema was out. The 21-year-old's smart movement, speed and dribbling made him a worthy substitute, and he now sits at 7 goals and 5 assists in 19 matches.

However, Rodrygo lacks consistency. He failed to score in the last five league games despite being fed some good passes from midfield.
