Real Madrid and German international defender Antonio Rudiger sat down for a candid interview with Diario AS.
When asked if there were other options for the move apart from Madrid, he replied: "Obviously there were more teams, but I said I was only considering two - Chelsea and Real Madrid. I worked very hard in London for the last five years and I had an acquired status. So it was either that or Madrid for me".
"Barca knocked on my door but it wasn't an option for me. Having the opportunity to play with Modric, Kroos and Benzema.. it was difficult to say no".
"I used to think Madrid was something that would never happen to me. It never even entered my mind. And when I finally realized Madrid needed me, I said : Wow!"
Since joining Los Blancos back in July, Rudiger has scored 2 goals in 17 appearances for the club.
