Tebas hits back at Vinicius after forward claims La Liga racist, Brazilian responds

Vinicius Jr. suffered racist abuse at Mestalla in Real Madrid's 1-0 defeat to Valencia on Sunday night. The home fans shouted racial slurs at the forward, resulting in the match being stopped for ten minutes.

The Brazilian was sent off after the play resumed following an altercation with Valencia players.

After the game, the Madrid forward criticised La Liga for failing to fight racism in the stands properly. He wrote on social media: "Racism is normal in La Liga. The competition thinks it's normal, the federation does too and the opponents encourage it. I'm so sorry.

"The league that once belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano and Messi today belongs to racists."

This didn't go well with La Liga president Javier Tebas.

"We have tried to explain to you what LaLiga is and what it can do in cases of racism, but you have not shown up to either of the two agreed dates that you yourself requested," Tebas tweeted, as translated by Diario AS.

"Before criticising and insulting LaLiga, you need to inform yourself properly Vinícius.

"Don’t let yourself be manipulated and make sure you understand the work we have been doing together."

Vinicius didn't go back on his stance. He responded to Tebas on Twitter: "Once again, instead of criticizing racists, the president of LaLiga appears on social media to attack me... I’m not your friend to talk about racism. I want actions and punishments. Hashtags don’t move me."
