Messi snubs Barca to move to MLS — only one active Ballon d'Or winner left in Europe

After so much buzz about Lionel Messi coming back to Barcelona this summer, the iconic player has given them the cold shoulder to sign for Inter Miami in the MLS.

Not that we care about the misery of our rivals, but Messi's departure from European football means that Luka Modric is now the only active Ballon d'Or winner still playing football in Europe.

There's been a mass exodus of iconic stars from Europe in recent times. Reining Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema was one of the latest to leave for Saudi Arabia before Messi shocked Barca with his decision.

Modric could also decide to leave Real Madrid this summer, but the 37-year-old legendary midfielder wants to retire at Real Madrid, according to credible sources.
