Bellingham 9.5, Joselu 5: Rating Madrid players in Napoli win

Real Madrid defeated Napoli 4-2 but despite the scoreline, it wasn't an easy win for the Whites. Here's how we rated the players.

Bellingham: 9.5/10. A brilliant run and a header to take the lead for Madrid. Silky smooth with the ball at his feet, tried his best even when Madrid collectively stopped playing in the second half. Set up Joselu with a magnificent trivela for Madrid's fourth and final goal of the night.

Carvajal: 9. Dani's been dropping Rolls-Royce performances just like in the good old days lately. Supported attacks with his runs down the right-hand side and inviting crosses. Kept Kvaratskhelia in his pocket today.

Mendy: 8. Absolutely cancelled Politano today and did an overall great job defensively. Joined the attacks on a few occasions, even finding himself in a no. 9 role once. Played a great cross for Joselu after the hour's mark

Paz: 8. The 19-year-old scored his first Madrid goal with a long-range cracker to win the game, pulling it out of nowhere. Aided by the keeper obviously but what a swagger from the youngster to try that shot against the Italian champions!

Rudiger: 7.5. An imperious defensive performance by the German, rock-solid in one-on-one situations. However, very lucky to not get sent off for kicking Zielinski, even if it was accidental.

Valverde: 7.5. Worked his socks off, made a great recovery run to stop a Napoli counter-attack — and a certain Osimhen goal — shortly after the visitors' second goal. Was the only spark for Madrid in the second half alongside Jude.

Rodrygo: 7.5. Scored a carbon copy of his goals against Cadiz, equalising for Madrid immediately after Napoli took the lead. Terrorised the Napoli defence, then disappeared from the spotlight around the half-hour mark and never really came back.

Brahim: 7. Very smooth on the ball and dangerous up front, great turn before assisting Rodrygo for the leveller. Sometimes took too much time to release the ball though.

Kroos: 6.5. Great passing as usual, could have done much better at the back as he lost way too many duels.

Lunin: 6.5. Showed good instincts to parry away Simeone's effort but the goal was given on goal-line technology as it had crossed the line — the Ukrainian was really unlucky here. Couldn't do anything with Anguissa's shot, don't think anyone could have saved that. Distribution is good though.

Ceballos: 6. Started the game strongly, creating chances in a prime Modric style and contributing well with his movement. Played worse and worse as the time went on though, culminating in a very cheap giveaway early in the second half, nearly gifting Madrid a goal.

Alaba: 6. Played an inch-perfect cross for Bellingham to score Madrid's second goal but his poor positioning at the back led to two Napoli goals. Really needs to work on his defending.

Joselu: 5. Took him just five minutes after coming on to miss a tap-in. Wasted several more chances as it felt he couldn't score for life — but Joselu finally scored in the added time.

Others: Vazquez, Nacho N/A
