Real Madrid's biggest weakness v RB Leipzig shown

Expectedly, Real Madrid faced some difficulties playing against RB Leipzig away from home.

The Red Bulls generated almost as much danger in front of goal as the Whites, recording an xG [expected goals] of 1.24 and completing 18 passes into Real Madrid's box from open play.

The weakest link of Carlo Ancelotti's team were the left-sided defenders, Nacho and Ferland Mendy, who were struggling to close the gap between each other.

Benjamin Sesko and Dani Olmo were the Leipzig players with the most shots attempted – and most of them came exactly from that area after Marco Rose's team capitalised on Nacho and Mendy's positional mistakes.

Here you may see how huge the gap was sometimes. Leipzig were continuously taking advantage of it and forced Andriy Lunin to come up with some goalkeeping heroics.

Luckily, the Ukrainian was absolutely on fire that night while the Leipzig attackers had a bad day in the office. Real Madrid took their rare chance and won the difficult clash.
