Every player's pre-match routine is unique but few are quite as unusual as Konaté's. The Liverpool centre-back recently revealed he sometimes watches Manga movies before games. "I put on fight scenes and it gives me determination," said Konaté, despite his Liverpool teammates telling him that he is "too big" to watch the Japanese comic genre. However, it is difficult to argue with Konaté's routine when he is at his best. He has previously said that Sergio Ramos is his idol, however, as a calm, composed defender he more closely resembles the players that he has played alongside, notably Virgil van Dijk and Raphaël Varane. Since the latter's retirement from international football, Ibrahima Konaté has featured prominently for France, despite an inconsistent season at club level.
