Mads Hermansen has yet to make his international debut at the time of writing but his rise through the Danish side’s age groups and an impressive first season at Leicester has shown he has the potential to become a future No 1 for his country. Growing up in Næsby in Odense in, the young keeper joined Brøndby at U17 level and progressed to the first team where he won the adulation of the fans - and Player of the Year - with his positive attitude, important saves and impressive footwork before joining Leicester in the summer of 2023. “To be honest, I’m not sure I’ve always seen myself as a goalkeeper,” he told CBS Sports in April. “I’ve always seen myself as a footballer.” Has a picture of a friend, who died when Hermansen was 17, on one of his shinpads, and has said that it gives him strength on the pitch.
