Standing at an imposing 1.96m, Maksym Talovierov has had a unique career for a Ukrainian footballer. He started in the academies of domestic clubs but moved to the Czech Republic at a very young age. There, he gained experience playing for several clubs, including one of the local giants, Slavia Prague. Given the lack of first team opportunities he eventually moved to LASK in Austria, where he has finally enjoyed plenty of game time. Talovierov’s interests extend beyond the pitch. He kept a blog about his performances in the Czech Republic, where he told an engaging story about his football and everyday life. He wrote: “I wouldn't say that reading books is particularly popular among footballers nowadays. Almost all the guys I know are more on their phones, on Instagram, on their laptops, watching films or TV series. I don't read much either, but I carry books with me, so I can read in my spare time.” Talovierov earned his first national team call-up only for the Euro 2024 qualifying playoffs in March, making brief cameos in the two wins over Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iceland.
