"We miss Nemanja Gudelj; there aren't many players like him," remarked Sevilla’s coach, Quique Sánchez Flores, as the midfielder recovered from injury last season. "He is a leader in his position, able to communicate with other players and thus connect the whole team." That's what scouts wrote about Nemanja Gudelj in their notebooks when he was still a teenager. He came through the ranks at NAC Breda in the Netherlands and gained experience at AZ and Ajax before making an unexpected move – to China. Gudelj has always been different, though. He had an unusual hairstyle for a Serb (he has since changed his hair), he has unusual eating habits for Serbian taste (he's a vegetarian), and is in a high-profile marriage to the daughter of the former Serbian warlord Zeljko Raznatovic, more notoriously known as Arkan. A midfielder at club level, the 32-year-old is sometimes used in defence for the national team, which many fans view as a mistake.
