Clairefontaine has been a springboard for many players to achieve great things. That almost wasn't the case for Youssouf Fofana, who left the prestigious academy at the age of 15 without a club. While close friend Moussa Diaby was signing for PSG, Fofana was delivering pizzas, his dreams of going professional momentarily left in tatters. However, three years later, he was offered a route back into the game by Strasbourg and he has not looked back since. From a pizza delivery boy in his late teens to a World Cup appearance in Qatar in 2022, Fofana is a testament to the idea that there isn't a one-size-fits-all route to the top.
