There are two possible reasons for signing Chiesa late in the last summer window; 1) to replace Salah, he plays mainly a RW and he’s 27 years of age, 2) to sell him back after sometimes to gain more money, given his bargain purchase of £10M from Juventus.
Nobody on earth can deny Chiesa’s credentials and talents as a player, but I think he’s suffering from an old injury that justifies the very low price he was sold by Juventus. Juve signed Chiesa from Fiorentina in 2022-2023 with €46.4M and sold to Liverpool with €12M in 2024-2025. That puts a big question mark on his injury history.
Time will only tell why we signed him!!1

There are still too many factors in favor of retaining them; how much it’d cost the Club to replace the trio? I’d say at least £200M. How much it’d cost if we give them a two years contract, about £80M on their current wages. See how much is the difference!? That is math and business.
New players normally take some time to adapt, and that is why we seldom saw Chiesa in the lineup since we signed him in the summer. I know there must a time for players to go and another to come, but we have to have that vision to see when this happens.2

You mean that FSG are ready to let these players go on free because these players want more money than what they earn to renew their contracts.
I will go with you in this direction, how much money FSG would spend to replace these trio? At least £200M.
Mo is currently on £350k/w that is £18,200,000 annually. VVD is on 11,440,000 annually while TAA is on £9,360,000 annually that sums up £39M annually for the trio without raise. As such, they would cost us about £120M if they offered three years contract, or £80M if they given two years contract. Still that money is by far too low than if we replaced them.
If we gonna argue about age, that applies on Salah and VVD, I personally see that they are much fitter than younger players in the squad. Age in modern football is not the factor, but fitness and performance are. Milner left at the age of 37 and played in Brighton. CR7, Messi, Luca Modric are still top players in action and also they are in their late thirties still. The list still too long.
I hope I made myself clear.Comment on post: "'I'm going to officially say it': Liverpool fans reflect on title chances after Man City win"

Let’s move on and never been taken away. The season is too long still and anything can happen.
What we need to focus on right now is to keep up our winning streaks to secure comfortable gap between our contenders.
I see Arsenal and Chelsea now are more solid to keep winning their games, City is not excluded, they have still all what it takes to regain their form. It is too early to talk about the title now, let’s put it off until April or May 2025.4

It is amazing how Salah made this assist in that situation!! How accurate he is to put the ball to Gakpo in between all these players while Akanji was so close to him. Literally Salah passed the ball from the hole of a needle to reach Gakpo at the far end.
Guys we have a top class player who can win us a match with just one of his magical creations.
Yet another Genius in our squad is TAA. His reading to the players’ movements in the pitch and the accuracy he sends his passes to them is a killer. What amazes me is that his form didn’t shake despite his being long time away through hamstring injury.
VVD in his 33 of age is like old wine. He still keeping his superior form to be one of the top CBs in the world football, if not he’s the top in the world now.
What is so weird to me is that FSG is cold blooded to renew the contracts of the trio backbone of the squad.1
