Julen Lopetegui faces a dilemma of choice
Marca's David G. Medina stresses that Real Madrid have many high-quality midfielders and it is not an easy task for Julen Lopetegui to choose the right trio (or quartet) in the centre of the park.
"Casemiro, Kroos and Modric have been the mainstays in the middle of the pitch during the Zidane era at the club," Media writes. However, the Croatian midfielder is linked with a move away from the Bernabeu and despite showing no signs of ageing he is 32 years old already and Real Madrid will need to replace him soon.
Apparently, Julen Lopetegui will build a new team and Zidane's trio might be put aside. The main candidate to become the new starting midfielder is Isco - one of the favourite players of Real Madrid new coach. He was Lopetegui's main man in the Spanish national team which is the reason to believe that Isco's importance for Los Blancos will increase this season.
Dani Ceballos, Mateo Kovacic and Marcos Llorente all have been reportedly looking for other options outside of Madrid but Medina claims that the three midfielders might get a chance under Lopetegui as well. He even suggests that Kovacic could become the new Modric and it seems only fitting since they both are from Croatia and played together for a long time.Э
