Lopetegui backs Benzema and Bale to succeed without Cristiano
- The Welshman has scored three goals in three pre-season matches
- Los Blancos boss is 'happy' with both players
- He also backs the young stars to step up
Gareth Bale is seemed to enjoy his first Los Blancos campaign without Cristiano Ronaldo alongside him. He used to struggle for consistent playing time because of constant injuries, however, this summer's pre-season turned out to be successful for the Welshman who has already scored in each of the three games Los Blancos have played.
Julen Lopetegui is now backing Bale to continue the same way. He says, as quoted by Goal: "I'm not going to talk about past seasons. The Bale we have now is committed, content, wanting to have a great season. He is training very well, happy, and we are so happy with him. This has only just begun."
Another important figure is Karim Benzema who struggled badly in LaLiga last season, having only scored five goals in 32 appearances. However, this pre-season has shown the 30-year-old possesses the same skills as he opened the scoring against Milan in the Trofeo Bernabeu match on Saturday night.
The Frenchman has also earned praise from his new boss: "With Benzema we are happy. He trained very well, he is in great form, excited and enthusiastic. Surely he will help us in all facets, not only with his goals. He contributes a lot to the team and we are happy for what he does."
Finally, Lopetegui doesn't forget the promising youngsters - Dani Ceballos, Sergio Reguilon, Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde. Each of them took part in the Trofeo Bernabeu match even though they were only introduced off the bench.

Nevertheless, Los Blancos boss is certain that everyone of this quartet could play a crucial role this year: "We are delighted with all the young players we have here. They have played a very good preseason. The young players' contribution gives energy and Real Madrid has needs youth and enthusiasm. There is still pre-season to finish off with the squad and we will make decisions."
