Ex-Real Madrid boss Valdano: 'Vinicius doesn't remind me of Robinho at all'
- Jorge Valdano, an ex-Madrid player, boss and sporting director sat down with AS to analyse Los Blancos thumping win over Atletico
- He waves away any comparison between Vinicius and Robinho while praising Gareth Bale for finally being able to boost his performance
"He clearly has real confidence in the talent he has. He gave a performance of courage and clout. He has tremendous acceleration and, bit by bit, is showing us more and more of what he's got in his locker. He turns so adeptly [with the ball at feet]. He was a threat from start to finish." admitted Jorge Valdano, a man who was closely associated with Los Blancos since eighties, talking to Onda Cero about an 18-year-old sensation, Vinicius Jr.
The ex-Blancos' striker certainly knows a thing or two about scoring goals, so he delivered his opinion on Robinho-Vinicius comparison, which has been made too often as of recently:
"Vinicius doesn't remind me of Robinho at all."
Gareth Bale, meanwhile, appears to have finally sprung back to life after a highly-unsuccessful dry spell:
"He looked more at ease. He scored a fine goal: [the finish was] perfectly weighted and placed with absolute precision - he put it in the only spot it could have gone in."
And, of course, Valdano couldn't help mentioning Morata and his continuing struggles at Atletico as the striker once again failed to score as his goal was disallowed due to being offside:
"It was a fantastic effort: magnificent control, great finish."
