The story of Marcelo being linked with Juventus has been making the headlines on a regular basis, given his close friendship with Cristiano Ronaldo, who decided a change in scenery would be most welcome as he joined the Old Lady last summer.
Marcelo, though, admits the transfer talk is nothing but wild speculations in his recent interview with Esporte Interativo:
“We’re talking about a formidable team.
“I remember following them a lot when [Pavel] Nedved played. I also swapped shirts with him.
“Having said that, I’m still a Real Madrid player and I have a contract in force.
“I don’t know where the rumours have come from. I’d say if there was an agreement or negotiations had taken place.”
Ronaldo and Marcelo used to be good friends during their time together at El Real - the friendship was so tight, the South American was among the first to be told about Ronaldo's intention to change teams.
He added: “We were training for our last Champions League Final against Liverpool and he told me: ‘I’m leaving’.
“So yes, he confessed it to me before the match.”
Five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been exceptional for Juventus, having scored 20 goals in 31 appearances.
Marcelo, meanwhile have become something of a fringe player for Madrid with his dire run of physical form.
