Balague: 'There is nothing behind Madrid's chase for Pogba. It is rubbish'
- Paul Pogba and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have got a very good relationship, according to Guillem Balague.
- The Spanish journalist doesn't see the Frenchman joining Madrid this summer despite Zidane's particular interest in him.
“When that gets published, it comes on the back of a hidden agenda,” Balague said on his YouTube channel. “Either the media trying to make a story work that isn’t, but of course following the line that Pogba wants to go to Madrid, or his entourage trying to make noise out of which there is only one winner - which is the player.
“The player may get another contract at Manchester United or perhaps a transfer to Real Madrid.
“But I’ll tell you that behind this story, in particular, there is nothing. It is rubbish.”
“They’ve got a very good relationship, as they’ve always had since Solskjaer coached him in the youth setup at Manchester United,” he continued. “There is a lot of respect for Solskjaer, that has not changed at all. They wanted Solskjaer in the side from the moment he was a temporary coach, everyone in the squad wanted him to stay on, and Pogba was a leader of that.
“Now, do Real Madrid want him? I said it before. Yes, Zidane will want him.
“£500m they’re gonna have to spend on Pogba. They won’t spend that kind of money, I can tell you that right now.
“Manchester United are not selling Pogba, so this is a story that has to do with the fact that the only winner here is the player. ‘Cos he may get a contract out of it.
“I don’t think there are many legs to this story right now, but for Real Madrid, it’s also interesting that the name comes up. Why? ‘Cos there will be other players that they want and if they believe, those other players, that Pogba is in the equation, they may just reduce their demands and sign for Real Madrid pretty soon.
“But in terms of Pogba and Solskjaer, it’s all rubbish.”
