ABC: Valverde injured as Real Madrid potentially face midfield crisis
- Fede was on duty with Uruguay and returned to Madrid on Thursday.
- The 21-year-old has reportedly suffered a muscular injury.
- Modric and Isco are also injured while Casemiro is potentially suffering from jetlag.
- This means that Real Madrid might have only two midfielders available for Levante clash.
According to Madrid-based media outlet ABC, Federico Valverde has suffered an injury while on international duty with Uruguay.
The 21-year-old midfielder has returned to Madrid with a muscular problem in his left leg. All in all, this is already the tenth muscle injury suffered by a Los Blancos player since the start of the campaign.
Moreover, with Luka Modric being the previous victim of the international break with an adductor injury, Isco still recovering from femoris injury and Casemiro potentially out of action with jetlag problems, Real Madrid might only have two midfielders available for the Levante clash - Toni Kroos and James.
This is certainly a dangerous situation which was addressed by Zinedine Zidane in his press conference on Friday:
"Lack of midfielders? This is the squad I have. I trust these players," the Frenchman assured. "The rest we can not say anything because nothing will change. The squad we have is this one and that's it."We can't overthink Modric's injury. I hope he recovers quickly for us, we have to accept that he is injured and tomorrow he won't play.
"All clubs have problems with injuries, especially in the beginning. We have players who play constantly. I trust the people who work here, because they are the best, I hope that after Luka we won’t have any more injured players."
Will Real Madrid suffer from selling several midfielders and not signing anyone after Pogba move failed?
