Mendy: 'I will be Marcelo's successor'
- The 24-year-old penned a six-year deal with Blancos.
- He has only managed to appear in 6 games so far.
- Mendy hopes he'll be able to replace our veteran left-back Marcelo.
Ferland Mendy has appeared in Real Madrid TV program on Monday and made some big promises, despite managing to play in only 6 games for Real Madrid so far.
"I will be his (Marcelo's) successor," Mendy told Real Madrid TV, making it clear that he has a lot of ambitions to fulfill. "He has a lot of time left, but if they've brought me here, it's because they see potential."
The 24-year-old is having a rather controversial season at Real Madrid so far. He has missed around one month of action with muscle injuries and managed just a handful of games for Blancos - 4 in La Liga and 2 games in the Champions League.
Marcelo, meanwhile, has 494 games for the first team to his name, in which he has scored 36 goals and assisted 93. During his illustrious career at the Bernabeu, he has won a total of 20 titles: 4 Champions Leagues, 4 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 4 La Liga titles, 2 Copa del Rey trophies and 3 Spanish Super Cups.
The veteran is currently playing his 14th campaign with the Whites which means he has played and won more matches than any foreign player in the whole Real Madrid history.
Do you remember Marcelo's first goal for Los Blancos? It's been a while since he scored it:
