Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier caused Eden Hazard's ankle injury on Tuesday with the winger having to leave the Santiago Bernabeu and go straight to a hospital. Meunier and Hazard are friends and compatriots which made the situation even more unpleasant.
The Ligue 1 player spoke to a Belgian newspaper Derniere Heure about the incident: "I am really sad. I tried to contact him directly after the game, but I couldn't get through.
"Then I saw two or three of his teammates who told me he was very sore. Whether it is serious or not, I don't know. Fingers crossed, it won't be. My goal is never to hurt other players. And if there is one player that I don't want to hurt, it's Eden."
Los Blancos have released a medical report on Hazard and it looks like the Belgian is almost completely okay. The worst-case scenario would be him breaking a bone and Los Blancos have reported only a bruise.
The winger is going to recover in approximately 10 days and is expected to play in the upcoming El Clasico on December 18.
