Atalanta expected to take up option to buy Chelsea loanee Pasalic for €15m
- Mario Pasalic is currently on loan at the Serie A side.
- La Dea are expected to trigger their €15m option to make the deal permanent.
- The Croat has been a key player for Gasperini's crew.
Back in July, the midfielder penned down a new deal with the Blues until 2022 and immediately returned to La Dea for his second consecutive loan spell at the Serie A side.
The 24-year-old joined Chelsea in 2014 on a £3m move from Hajduk Split, however, is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Blues.
The current season is Pasalic's sixth one on loan in a row. Mario has played for Elche, Monaco, AC Milan, Russian side Spartak Moscow and Atalanta. The central midfielder has been key for each of the teams. All in all, since the beginning of the 2014/15 campaign, the Croat has made 183 appearances and scored 32 goals.
Mario knows how to score in big games:
Last term, Pasalic featured 42 times for Atalanta across all competitions, scored 8 goals and helped the Bergamo-based side to finish third in Serie A - the best result in the club's history. This season, the Blues' loanee has made 18 appearances, scored 4 goals and registered 2 assists for Gian Piero Gasperini's crew.
The 24-year-old receives regular Croatia call-ups and has won 12 international caps so far.
