Barcelona budget forecast: new stadium looks unlikely
Coutinho's transfer will have heavy implications on the clubs
Barça's budget for this season shows an impressive revenue forecast of 897M€ (+189M€ vs previous season). Expenses were expected to grow just one million less, to reach 865M€.
The main revenue growth source are "transfers and others", mainly Neymar to PSG (net impact of 144M€), while the main expense growth source are "wages" (+114M€) => Next season Barça will need further 144M€ just to compensate the Neymar deal and keep incomes above expenses.
Moreover, there are already large deviations from this season's budget:
Incomes: there was an increase of 20M€ forecasted for ticketing, but match attendance is beig far below expectations.
Expenses: Coutinho's and Mina's signings were not forecasted.
Further revenue increase foreseen for next season include sponsorship deals: 50M€ from Nike, 10M€ from Beko and 10M€ from Airline (TBC)
But this would cover only half of the net impact of Neymar's transfer fee, and next year's expenses will be more than 40M€ higher due to this winter market signings. Barça's next big deal has to be the stadium's naming rights (about 200M€), but this would mean "only" 15M€ per season that are supposed to fund the new Camp Nou.
1. It won't be easy to balance this season's budget after Coutinho's signing.
2. It would be even more difficult to balance next season's budget without the extra money coming from the Neymar deal.
3. Building a new stadium looks very unrealistic under these circumstances.
