Messi's quarter-finals curse strikes again
It might sound shocking, but the Argentinian has never scored in a Champions League quarter-final.
Leo Messi lost possession 19 times against Roma, while only two of his shots were on target, with no goals scored.
As Marca points out, Messi tends to struggle in the quarter-finals. In the last four years he never scored at this stage: nor against PSG in 2015, nor during the knock-out against Atletico Madrid in 2014 and 2016 and Juventus in 2017.
In fact, through all the history of his participation in the competition, Messi never scored in a quarter-final.
