Sport: Umtiti contract talks frozen
The talks haven't been active for the last few weeks and after Roma defeat they are set to stall for a while, Sport reports.
Barcelona were surprized with Umtiti's high wage demands in the first place, as the Frenchmen wants to be among the squad second-tier, pay-wise, along with the players who brought a lot of success to the club.
Umititi's request was due to his high level of performances, as well as his relatively low release clause (€60m), that makes him available for the rich Premier League clubs.
However, the defender's drop in form has been also noticed by Barcelona board. As well as his 'mind games' over the new deal, like when he refused to answer the question about his future on French TV.
Barcelona appreciate Umtiti's undeniable quality and potential, but they are disappointed with his drop in form and behavior off the pitch. Thus they decided to put the talks on hold for the time being.
Should Barca extend Umtiti's contract before the summer transfer window?
