Eric Abidal opens up about Barca transfer strategy for the summer: 'There will be more exits'
- Mundo Deportivo have interviewed newly appointed Barca technical adviser, Eric Abidal
- Without giving up to much, Abidal addressed the recent rumours about Hazard and Rabiot
- Paulinho's exit was the wish of the player, more players are expected to leave
“Paulinho’s exit was a very good opportunity economically for the club, but the decision was his, not ours,” explained Abidal to Mundo Deportivo.
“His substitute? We respect our current players and today another midfielder in Arthur has arrived. We have a competitive squad that just won the double.”
Addressing the rumours about PSG's midfielder Rabiot Abidal said: “We are working on different operations and we’ll only announce players when they are ours. From there, there’s a lot to work on but we’ll focus on the core we have.”
On the possibility of Eden Hazard transfer, the technical director added: “You’d have to ask the player that. We don’t speak about players that aren’t ours.”
Abidal was also asked about the signing of a forward after Griezmann move fell through: “First we analyze our squad. We’ll see what decisions will be made. It’s true that an attacker chose not to join Barca but we’ll continue working slyly.”
The Barca technical director discussed potential outgoing transfers too: “If everything is stable, there will be more exits. The season is long and we have to speak to some players because they have a contract and I believe they’re happy. They’re decisions made by the club and technical staff, but we must first contact the players.”
