Trent Alexander-Arnold learning fast, as biggest night in his career looms
The former England striker Alan Shearer is happy to witness the youngster's development.
“He’s young, inexperienced and he’s learning," Shearer pointed out at the Match of the Day show on Saturday.
“Trent was the given the runaround by Wilf Zaha in the first half. He needed to get closer to his centre-backs. He was constantly defending in that first half and rarely got forward.
“What Jurgen Klopp told him at half-time was ‘you do to Zaha what he’s just done to you - get forward and let him worry about you’. It was much better.
“He was one of the big reasons why Liverpool won the game. He got further forward into much better positions. Zaha had to defend. Trent provided width and put in some brilliant balls.
“He was superb second half. He’s inexperienced. It will be a big game for him to learn from.”
