Lovren names quality England lacked to beat Croatia
- Dejan believes the Three Lions lacked mental strength to beat his team
- He was motivated by his critics to show what he's really worth in Russia
“The difference was mental. We knew we could write history and we did it. Now there is only one game left to make it forever.
Asked if he felt extra motivation to prove himself, with so many questioning his ability, Lovren said: “Yes, and I think I’ve done that without being arrogant. I think definitely, if you’re in the final, you’re part of the two best teams in the world.
“Before the game I received a question like ‘what do you think about the 4-1?’ [Liverpool’s defeat away to Spurs last season]. I really don't understand these questions, always looking back to where I made some mistakes. I really don't understand.
“There’s too much about me. But whatever, this is what gets me more motivated to work harder and prove everyone wrong - everyone.”
If Lovren pockets the French forwards like he’s dealt with Messi, Kane and anyone else this tournament, following a superb Champions League Final, he fully deserves credit as one of the best in the business. It’s weird to say, but you can’t argue with results.— Empire of the Kop (@empireofthekop) July 11, 2018
