Ex United midfielder Darron Gibson released by Sunderland
From silverware at United to drunk driving at Sudnerland
Former Manchester United and Everton midfielder Gibson has left Sunderland by mutual consent, following a drunk driving accident. The player was initially suspended.
A club statement said: "Following the conclusion of his recent suspension, Darron Gibson will leave Sunderland AFC by mutual consent."
Gibson, represented Manchester United from 2004 to 2012 is only one of a multitude of struggles Sunderland are having at the moment as the Black Cats are rock bottom in the Championship.
Another ex United player in the Sunderland squad is John O'Shea who is set to retire this year.
