FIFA president: 'Messi has been making us dream for 10 years'
- Infantino enjoyed Messi's performance for Argentina
- He hopes that Barca forward will play much longer
FIFA president Gianni Infantino discusses Argentina's World Cup campaign:
"With regards to Argentina, of course, they expected a lot from the national team. The whole world was looking forward to seeing them and they lost a very intense match against France, who are in the final."
The official was impressed by Lionel Messi despite him being eliminated in the first knockout round:
"You can't always win in football. Messi, he was amazing, as always, he scored an amazing goal and he could maybe have done more, or not. If they had been able to defend when 2-1 up against France, Messi maybe could have shown his skills.
2 - Lionel Messi is the first player to provide two assists in a World Cup game for Argentina since Diego Maradona vs Korea Republic in 1986. Insufficient.#FRA #ARG #FRAARG #WorldCup pic.twitter.com/dw4cL4GcEc— OptaJose (@OptaJose) June 30, 2018
"But there is nothing to say about Messi. He has been making us dream for 10 years and I'm sure he will continue to do so for many years."
How would you rate Messi's World Cup on a scale from 0 to 10?
