3 Arsenal players may not receive Premier League winners medal - explained

Arsenal are chasing their first Premier League title in two decades but not all members of Mikel Arteta's squad are eligible to receive a medal. Why is that so?

Well, the champions are given 40 commemorative medals made of silver, which are 2.25in (5.7cm) in diameter, players who have made at least five appearances are eligible to receive one.

Judging by this, Jurrien Timber, Kieran Tierney and Ethan Nwaneri are ineligible as they made just one appearance each.

However, additional medals may only be presented with the consent of the Premier League Board, and that will only be granted if more than 39 players have made at least five PL appearances during the campaign.

A victory for the Gunners against Everton and West Ham picking up a win at Man City would seal the trophy for the Gunners.
