Tomas Kalas sends farewell message to Chelsea after 9 years in club system

Tomas Kalas posted a farewell letter to Chelsea after he finalised a permanent move to Bristol City.

The Czech defender has been the longest-serving player at the Blues as he joined the club back in 2010.

Since then, though, he made just two appearances in official games and spent most of the time on loan, the last spell being a season at Bristol City.

The Robins were impressed with the 26-year-old and chose to buy him out which made Kalas the most expensive player in the club's history.

"Not sure where to start so I’ll keep it short," Kalas wrote on his Instagram account. "After 9 years in Chelsea, it’s not easy to say goodbye.

"It’s been a pleasure and I feel honoured to be part of such a great club for that long.

"Massive thank you belongs to absolutely everyone associated with the club. I’ve got so many memories and I’ll remember them forever.

"But now I feel like it’s a good time to make a change. Time to be part of something new. To be part of a new journey which will excite me and that’s something Bristol City have offered to me."

Kalas is not the only ex-Blue who remains at Bristol. Jay Dasilva, the academy graduate, has also stayed at the Robins.
