'It was a very nice dinner': Pochettino reveals Boehly meeting, addresses season review reports

At a press conference after the Bournemouth win, Mauricio Pochettino was asked about the upcoming season review where he will reportedly sit down with the Chelsea hierarchy to discuss his future.

In response, however, the head coach dropped a bombshell about a meeting with Todd Boehly a few days before.

"I don’t know if this (meeting with the owners) is going to happen," Pochettino said.

"I have an idea about this. I can tell you that on Friday night Todd invited me to dinner.

"It was a very nice dinner together but I don’t know about the rumours of the review. Look, my staff tomorrow are going to fly home, (unless) tonight they decide another thing or tell us to stay. I’m going to stay a few more days in London. My door is open and my phone is going to be on.”

When asked to elaborate on that meeting, Pochettino answered: "I’m not going to explain — (I say it) only for you to know that I was with him.

"Look, if I invite you alone and you are me and we have a dinner, it’s not for a bad thing, no? I don’t believe that. If I need to tell something (bad) I call by phone or say let’s go for a coffee."

Boehly is not as actively involved in the football side of the club as he was at the start of his ownership, so the fact that he met Pochettino for dinner might not mean as much as some people would believe.

The season review is likely to be underway soon, but Pochettino has made a case for keeping him at the club with a strong run at the end of the campaign.
